frequently asked questions

HERE ARE answers to common questions we've received regarding recruitment.

If your question isn't answered here, feel free to reach out TO US.

01.
What is recruitment

and who can join?

We welcome women of all grade levels and ethnicities to see what our sorority has to offer. Anyone with an interest in Asian American awareness is encouraged to come out to all events; ethnicity is not a factor when we recruit girls.

Deciding to join a sorority is an important decision for both you and the sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Recruitment period is a non-committal period of time when you can learn more about alpha Kappa Delta Phi. It is also a time when the sisters may learn more about you. Thus, the main goal of recruitment is getting to know you as a person while acquainting you with what Boston University aKDPhi does as an organization, what it means to be a sister, and what the sorority as a whole can do for you.

We hope to see interested girls attend as many recruitment events during the week as possible, and through these various events, we hope that they will have a chance to meet all of the active sisters and decide whether BU aKDPhi is something they wish to join.

02.

When is recruitment period and how long does it last?

We have two recruitment periods through the course of one school year: one in the fall and one in the spring. These periods have a duration of about two weeks.

04.

How do I get an invitation to become a new member?

The minimum requirements for an invitation is attendance to one General Interest Meetings (GIMs), two recruitment events, and an interview.

However, if you have prior commitments, please notify one of the sisters and we will gladly work something out.

03.

If I come out to recruitment events, does that mean I have committed to joining aKDPhi?

Absolutely not. Recruitment is open to everyone, and there is no commitment involved. Come meet new people and enjoy the company!

05.

Why would I want to join?

aKDPhi means something slightly different to each of us, but as such a multi-faceted organization composed of diverse individuals, this should be no surprise. We always strive to remain active in our sisterhood, service, and events.

With 48 chapters nationwide, alpha Kappa Delta Phi is the largest international Asian American interest sorority providing a network that spans from coast to coast, connected by common goals, experiences, and traditions. We support our sister chapters at their events as they support us. Besides our sisterhood with aKDPhi at other schools, the relationship we have with each other within our chapter is held most dear to our hearts - these are the women we will never forget.

As an organization, we value service to the community and beyond, in our support of the Avon Breast Cancer Awareness, Relay For Life, Boston Marathon, and other events.

Socially aKDPhi provides the means to break out of the Boston University bubble through mixers and events with other sororities, fraternities, and organizations. Our annual Spring Formal is always highly anticipated and the annual aKDPhi Convention is hosted by a different chapter in different cities each year and attended by sisters from every single chapter of alpha Kappa Delta Phi.

06.

If I have more questions, who can I ask?

The General Interest Meetings are a great time to ask more questions you might have about alpha Kappa Delta Phi.

Also, feel free to ask any sisters you see on campus or during Recruitment events.

If you would like, you can send us a message through any one of our social media pages, or send an email to bostonakdphi.web@gmail.com.
